Background of the Study:
Armed banditry has become a significant security issue in Nigeria, particularly in the northwestern states, including Zamfara. Gusau, the state capital, has been severely affected by the activities of armed bandits who engage in violent attacks, kidnappings, and theft. These acts of banditry have far-reaching consequences on citizens' human rights, particularly the right to life, personal security, and freedom of movement.

The human rights violations resulting from armed banditry include widespread fear, displacement, and loss of livelihoods. As the violence escalates, the government and local authorities are struggling to protect citizens' rights and ensure their safety. This study aims to assess the impact of armed banditry on citizens' rights in Gusau, Zamfara State, with a focus on understanding how these criminal activities infringe upon basic human rights.
